At the moment we are all feeling that times are hard, covering the bills can mean we have noting left to spoil ourselves with, and with Christmas on the way most of our money is tied up with presents.
But at Haymarket Shopping Centre, keeping on trend doesn't have to break the bank as the Haymarket retailers are busting full of on-trend pieces that won't cost the earth. Plus they also have some great basics that you could customise to wake up your wardrobe.
We have given you some suggestions below, but don't stop here - these are just a few ideas to get you started. Have fun, use your imagination and go wild! If you need any help, visit us next time we are in the centre for some tips! |

We took a basic grey t-shirt and turned it into this fantastic folklore top that will make you stand out from the crowd. All we have done here is to take some old material we found around the house (curtains, tablecloths, old dresses or tops) and cut the fabric into small squares.
Then we used a contrasting colour cotton to stitch them to the top. Don't worry about scruffy stitching, a basic running stitch will look great as folklore is supposed to be messy!
To add a little bit more oomph, we decorated the patches with little bows, although buttons or beads would work just as well.
Top Tip - Pearls are a hot trend this season, and would make a perfect finishing touch to any top! |

There are lots of ways to make alterations to a dress that will make it look like a completely new outfit! Simple things like just changing buttons can make a huge difference, but if you feel a little more creative, why not cover seams with colourful ribbon or lace?
We've taken a typical black party dress and added lace to the bottom of the skirt and around the waits, we've also lined some seams and added new buttons - it looks like a completely new dress and has only cost about £4!

This started life as a plain black tank top, but now looks like a very expensive and unique top.
All we did was cut bits of old fabric into different size circles and pin them together, then scrunch a larger piece of fabric on top. We then stitched away, leaving a flowing bit of fabric cascading down the tank top. |
